Ewelike - Mission Statement

When we set out to build Ewelike we knew that the competition was poor. Yes, they had lots of links. Yes, they could find anything and everything. But whenever we tried to find things, we couldn’t, or a little searching around the internet would show an even better price (or show us that there was a catch to that price - either a postage and package fee or it was with an e-tailer that you just couldn’t trust).

So, Why is Ewelike different?

  1. We collate information so you don’t have to. As well as showing our own product reviews, we also gather them from around the internet. This way you know you’re getting a balanced view: a view less likely to be biased by spammers and fanboys.
  2. We group prices so you know you’re getting the item you want. Other price comparison sites repeat results for every store because they don’t understand they’re the same product. With other sites you can notice that a low price for a CD, but when you get to the store you find out it’s a CD single, or isn’t the right version (e.g. it’s not that Led Zeppelin remastered CD you wanted, but is an original low-fi version). We understand products, so when you go to a product page and look at the prices on Ewelike you can be sure the prices are for the same product.
  3. We give you the best price even if we don’t make money. We’d rather you were happy and keep using Ewelike than make quick money off you.
  4. We understand shipping costs are important. We’ll show postage & packing rates whenever we have them. If we get a range then we’ll show you the maximum amount we know about. We’re adding support for more and more stores postage costs as we go along.
  5. Nobody pays us to promote their content, we only make a small percentage off some of the things you buy (and that cost isn’t passed on to you).
  6. We show prices for your preferences: tell us which currencies or stores you like (and those you don’t) and we’ll show you prices for your favorite stores in your favorite currency first.

If you’re in the UK and you’re happy to buy in Euros then you can get some great bargains within the EU zone, alternately if you’re happy to buy in Dollars then the US will have great prices for DVDs and Blu-rays. Personally, I always want to see the price from some stores, simply because I know them and trust them. However, if another store is significantly cheaper then I can be persuaded to give them a go. Unfortunately we all have problems with some stores, their delivery was bad, they have hidden charges, or their site is really hard to use for example, so we allow you to ignore them.

  7. We support auctions too. If you prefer auction sites (or you just want to find out the price it’s going for on auction sites) then you can look at those (note: even Ewelike can’t guarantee that it’s the exact product you want in these circumstance - although we do try our very best we’re limited by both the auction site, and the people holding those auctions).
  8. Some things are too old to buy new. Many books are only available “used” or “secondhand”, so we provide links to used book sales too (we’re book addicts ourselves so we know that sometimes a book is just as good secondhand as it is brand new).
  9. We’re developer and owner led: we don’t have a corporate owner. This keeps things simple and allows us to implement the functionality that you want, and allows us to keep development high, and enhance the site with the things you want.
  10. We’re a really nice bunch of people. We have pride in what we do and just want to build the best price comparison site we can.

Hope that gives you an insight into us and what we’re trying to do. We don’t always get it right, but we’re trying, really really trying. Plus, if you don’t like something, or you want to change things then contact us or use the feedback tab within the site - we love feedback, both positive and negative, and we’ll always take the time to read it (that excludes spam of course!).

Thanks for all your current support and we hope we can “do you proud” in future.
